Book Details

There was a time when Nick loved the fear he instilled in his enemies. His tattoos alone promised danger, but it was the look in his eyes that delivered on it. A contract killer since he was just a boy, Nick has now forged a new life and a new identity with the woman who followed him, captured him, and changed him.

He terrified Daisy. Once. But she couldn’t resist, and she ignored every warning. It paid off. Now she’s part of a new beginning, a fresh start in America helping him to leave behind a reckless and violent past as a professional killer. But the past is never easy to outrun, especially when so much of it thrives on revenge.

A new threat has emerged from the shadows, and now Nick and Daisy have no choice but to rely on Nick’s killer skills to protect them from everything they’ve tried so hard to escape.

Review

We continue with Nick and Daisy’s journey in this novella. Let me state that I can not get enough of Nick’s sexy as sin accent!! I’ve been wishing for these books in audio format while reading them. In this stretch of their journey, Nick and Daisy are trying to find their place in the college scene. They struggle with making friends as their approach is “dated”. Daisy feels like she’s failing Nick because she’s the American and has no knowledge of “what’s expected” as a result of her sheltered upbringing and Nick feels he’s failing Daisy because he can not give her the friendships she so desires and has his own secrets because he can’t step away from the gun. I felt the communication between Daisy and Nick is lacking in this novella. They have a tendency to use intimacy as their means of communication, which by all means is hawt and intense, but to use it (repeatedly) as mask to overcome their thoughts and emotions becomes a pattern hard for them to deter from. Nick is his ever watchful self and Daisy is out to help a friend. Suspicions are made and the plot thickens when the campus goes on lockdown. The intensity and angst was right up my alley and was hoping it would’ve kicked in sooner. The banter between Daisy and Nick keeps their relationship fresh and Nick’s possessiveness and dirty, intimate words to Daisy had me swooning! I can’t wait for more of this series! Give this a try and find your next book crush!! Rating: 4 stars
