Deacon Malloy’s life is dedicated to the Hell’s Raiders motorcycle club. Tough, hard, and fast with his fists, he serves the group as sergeant at arms. But his devil-may-care approach to life is thrown for a loop when the five-year-old daughter he never knew existed lands on the club steps.
Alexandra Evans is devoted to all her students—but there’s always been something about Willow Malloy that tugs at her heart. There’s an aura of sadness about her, a girl in need of all the love Alexandra can give. When Willow stops coming to school, Alexandra’s search leads to a clubhouse full of bikers…and a father hell-bent on keeping his daughter always within sight.
The moment Deacon sees Alexandra, he has to have her in his bed—and he’s never met a woman yet who couldn’t be persuaded. No matter how attracted she is to Deacon, Alexandra refuses to be just another conquest. But it’s Deacon himself who could be seduced—into a brighter future for himself, his daughter, and the woman he’s falling for against all odds.
Vicious (adjective): deliberately cruel or violent. Katie throws us into the “vicious” from the Prologue as you witness a vicious act from a rival club through the eyes of Willow. This is Deacon’s story, the Sergeant of Arms of the Hells Raisers MC. Along with Alexandra’s, a kindergarten teacher who has turned her life around from the grief of losing ones she loved. Deacon is hard-edged and we witness him becoming more of a caregiver, softer, more compassionate as his world begins to encompass more of a familial perspective. We’re introduced to the members of the club, their roles, their personalities, and their “old lady’s”. You witness where the clubs loyalties and priorities lie and you welcome them as your own. The “cycle” kicked in for me when the characters have to make difficult decisions based on their safety and retribution for those they love where the answer is revenge, an eye for an eye. Sweet, innocent and precious Willow has lived a life of mean men being in her life and now it’s time to protect and comfort her. This is a different spin on the MC world than I’ve read previously and I loved every chapter, every sentence. I didn’t want to put Vicious Cycle down and was sad when it was over. Trust, outlaws, guns, knifes, innocence broken, bonds and friendships built and nourished all within one story had me hooked. I can’t wait for Rev’s story, which appears to be next in the series. Give Deacon a try and find your next book crush!! Rating: 4.5 stars
