Book Details

Armed with two years’ worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn’t let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it’s because he saved her life, or maybe it’s because he’s completely different from everything she’s left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn’t the kind of guy she’d want to catch.

Review

Chasing River is the third novel in KA’s Burying Water series. This is a novel of Amber’s life dream to tour the sites, sounds, and history within different countries of the EU. The history of Ireland, the IRA, famine and their cultural struggles in this novel is rich in knowledge and sparked my interests as Ireland is a country I’ve dreamed of exploring. While in Ireland, River crashes into Amber and saving her. The heroes in the Burying Water novels have current or past criminal activity in their lives and witnessing their journey to making sound, moral decisions is a journey in and of itself. Add to that a heroine that’s caught of guard and finds what she least expected and you’re given the treat of a helluva novel with storytelling within the story itself. KA is absolutely correct, her words paint a picture for me, for her readers. I see the sites through her eyes, smell the smells, and feel all the things. I’ll never pass up one of KA’s books because she takes me on the journey, experiencing it all right along with her characters. And might I add, I’m longing to hear River’s Irish brogue on Audible. Give this a try and find your next book crush!! Rating: 4.5 stars
