CONFESS by Colleen Hoover
Book Details
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love—and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.
Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.
For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is keeping some major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.
The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Karen’s Review
Confess is another emotionally packed, superbly written book. Colleen Hoover continues to bring readers a genuine story that is distinctive and well delivered. The concept of Confess was so invigorating and brought so many authentic elements to the story.
What I loved about this book: the notion of this book was fantastic and the confessions were fun, heart breaking, tangible and anguish inducing!! Confess was beautiful and twisted my heart. In the author’s masterful way she slowly developed the story where the reader becomes invested and anxiously anticipates that secret element that comes out through the chapters. The characters were fabulous and I really wanted to know what their “story” was and felt it.
Confess is a book that a reader will devour. The range of feelings experienced through these characters will have your head spinning. But I would not give up a single feeling experienced with Confess. I really can’t find any fault with this story or the writing. Secrets are a powerful force and Confess packed a punch! Give this a try and find your next book crush! 5.0 Stars!!!
Kara’s Review
“Tell me something about yourself that no one else knows. Something I can keep for myself.” These secrets, these confessions filled with a variety of feelings from longing to shame and hope to guilt settle in my mind and allow me to see all others as human. Everyone has secrets…do you share yours or keep them hidden? Does having a confession share a thread with humility? Is this why all people have them? Because they’d feel “less than” if they shared it. The anonymity factor in Confess such as the drop box feature or a confessional at church can be seen as a protective layer, a safety net, but is it? Some may believe sharing a confession outright to another shows more strength, more trust. But I believe sharing a confession in any capacity takes enormous strength because you’re putting yourself out there, you’re letting go of a possible burden and sharing the weight of said confession with another, whether that be anonymously or not. We see Owen and Auburn fighting their confessions on a daily basis…to share or not to share? Are they fighting against or for? Are they ashamed or fear the rejection of others? The power of confessions is what we take from them. If we let others take advantage of us, we learn to use our voice, stand up for ourselves. If we are an enabler even in unhealthy situations, we learn to say no and stand our ground. Colleen has brought the confessions within this novel to life, proven the power they can hold over relationships. Beauty is what I see when reading Confess. The beauty of opening your heart: to empathize with others; your mind: to not judge another or their confession; and your voice: to share your own confession. Adam and Auburn, Owen and Emory, Harrison and AJ, Lydia and Trey. Colleen gave each of them a role, and their voice whether positive, negative, soft or outspoken made me think. That is what books should do. Then I will discuss said book over and over, think about it over and over, searching and looking for all of the messages I can absorb from it. I can not wait to read the printed format of Confess because the artistic paintings will turn my goosebumps to goosemountains. I shared my thoughts, my beliefs of which my voice could not hold back after reading Confess. Will you love Owen and Auburn, absolutely…but I’m not one to tell you why. There will be ugly, funny, and hopeful confessions but the most powerful thought to hold onto is that they’re all real! Find your next book crush with OMG & AMR!! Rating: 5 OMG stars
